Special Screens: The Searchers
Foyle Film Festival Presents a series of screenings targeted at those living with special needs, such as Dementia, physical and mental challenges, their families and carers.
Films will screen with lights on low level, with no adverts or trailers and the audience will be free to move around, or sing along to any musical number if they so wish. Complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits will be served before the film to give people the chance to meet and socialise, and to familiarise themselves with the venue.
With The Searchers John Wayne and director John Ford forged an indelible saga of the frontier and the men and women who challenged it. Wayne is Ethan Edwards, a former Confederate soldier who sets out to find his niece, captured by Comanches who massacred his family.
“(O)ne of the key films of its time and a lasting influence on generations of film-makers since.”- EyeForFilm
