The Silence of Others
Screening at Foyle Film Festival in association with Gasyard Wall Féile
Northern Irish Premiere
The amnesty law in Spain protects those who committed atrocities under the rule of General Franco. Endorsed by Pedro Almodovar, this powerful documentary reveals the cost of that amnesia to the victims of Spain’s 40-year dictatorship under Franco, who continue to seek justice to this day. Filmed over six years, the film follows an almost decade long journey led by a group of those who had been tortured, whose families had been killed or whose babies had been stolen, revealing how even 7 decades after these atrocities the past needs to be acknowledged.
