Two great new additions to the Foyle Film Festival line-up!
The 32nd Foyle Film Festival gets even bigger with two brand new weekend screenings.
We are excited to announce two additional screenings that will be taking place during the Foyle Film Festival. One is a gripping extraordinary film about a group of teen soldiers getting in way over their heads during a mission. The second is the tale of the downfall of the man behind one of the most iconic cars of all time... the DeLorean.
Friday 22 November @ 5PM MONOS
VENUE: BRUNSWICK MOVIEBOWL
Monos is a cross between William Golding's Lord of the Flies and Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness. Alejandro Landes's exceptional study of a group of child soldiers (the disposable "monkeys" of the title) espousing an unstated cause in an unnamed Latin American state is a unique filmic experience. It follows a ragtag outfit of teenagers with names like Wolf, Bigfoot, Rambo and Boom Boom who are entrusted with guarding a captured American engineer (Julianne Nicholson). It's evident from the way cinematographer Jasper Wolf frames them against the remote, mountainous jungle that they are seriously out of their depth.
"One of the year's most extraordinary films, Alejandro Lande's surrealist portrait of child soldiers living in chaos is an anarchic and unpredictable experience right until the end." - Maria Delgado, Sight & Sound
Director: Alejandro Landes. Cast: Sofia Buenaventura, Moisés Arias, Julianne Nicholson.
Duration: 1hr.42mins. Cert: 15. Language: English, Spanish

SATURDAY 23 NOVEMBER @ 5PM DRIVEN
VENUE: BRUNSWICK MOVIEBOWL
Written by Colin Bateman and set in early 1980s California, Driven follows the meteoric rise of the golden boy of the automotive industry, John DeLorean (Lee Pace) and his iconic DeLorean Motor Company, through the eyes of his friendship with charming, ex-con pilot turned FBI informant, Jim Hoffman (Jason Sudeikis). DeLorean turned to unsavory activities to save his financially troubled DeLorean Motor Company, and it was Hoffman who was all too willing to lure the car designer/engineer into a cocaine trafficking ring set up by the FBI.
"An entertaining true-crime tale told with a wind and a smile." - Matthew Pejkovic, Matt's Movie Reviews
"If the film's...an entertaining ride, it is because Sudeikis takes the audience by the hand through this very unlikely story that was inspired by true events." Boyd van Hoeij, Hollywood Reporter
Director: Nick Hamm.
Cast: Erin Moriarty, Lee Pace, Judy Greer, Jason Sudeikis, Iddo Goldberg, Corey Stoll.
Duration: 1hr.53mins. Cert: 15
