FOYLE FILM FESTIVAL COMPETITION 2000

The Foyle Film Festival Competition once again provides a platform to showcase the work of new film makers and animators. The winners of the competition will be announced on the closing night [Sunday 19 November] of the festival, and will receive the LIM [Light In Motion] Award - which has been specially designed for the competition by Tyrone Crystal.

The Competition comprises four categories: "Best Irish Short", Best International Short, Best Animation, and Best Feature. The competition has grown in stature over the years, and this year has been no exception. Both the quantity and the quality of entrants into the competition this year have been astounding, with literally hundreds of entries arriving from all over the world - including Australia, Israel, America, France, New Zealand, Russia, Germany, Lebanon, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.

This year's Jury will have a difficult task selecting a winner from the impressive array of films entered. We are also very lucky this year to have a dedicated and committed jury made up of broadcasters, writers, teachers, film-makers, and members of the general public, who are giving generously of their precious time over the ten days of the festival.

If you are in any way interested in the process of film making then you should not miss this unique opportunity to see an eclectic selection of some of the best examples of contemporary film and animation. Who knows, a visit to the competition screenings at Foyle Film Festival this year could inspire you to make your own film and we could be judging some of your work at the festival in future years.
